KAPORAL X
THE CALANQUES
NATIONAL PARK

Kaporal is reaffirming its local roots by signing a 2-year partnership with the Calanques National Park.

The preservation of water and biodiversity is a pillar of Kaporal's regional foothold

Between 2019 and 2020, we launched our expertly eco-designed Bleu Impact jeans line which save 50% of the water used. This desire to reduce the consumption of water and thus preserve it is also in line with our desire to help protect and promote the Mediterranean So, on the same day as the World Conservation Congress in Marseille, we are renewing our long-term commitment to climate and biodiversity protection issues.

Support for the Calanques National Park in Marseille

We care equally about blue jeans and the blue of the Mediterranean. So Kaporal is proud to announce an initial two-year partnership with the Calanques National Park, the first urban national park in Europe, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2022. Kaporal and the National Park commonly share strong civic values, an attachment to the Marseille region and the Mediterranean, ecological solidarity, and the desire to develop environmental awareness and education, particularly among young audiences. The Posidonia meadows conservation programme, supported by the Calanques National Park, is at the core of the partnership mechanism. Posidonia is a key ecosystem for the Mediterranean basin because it is home to over 400 species of algae and animals (fish, shellfish) but is however endangered on a daily basis by the increase in coastal maritime tourism. It is also symbolic of blue carbon, the kind of carbon that is captured and stored indefinitely by this marine ecosystem. Kaporal also wishes to include its employees in the process of raising public awareness of mooring areas and supporting research in this area.
